The weather slowed down the start of Wimbledon a bit, but the London Grand Slam is already moving at a great speed and brings plenty of interesting situations. Check out the most notable ones.

The win of a lifetime on Centre Court

Casper Ruud was heading for a record-breaking run at this year’s Wimbledon. At 2:1 sets to none, he was not too far away from advancing to the third round, but everything turned out differently in the end. The home player Liam Broady, who plays on a wild card at the All England Club, took the initiative.

He won the fourth set 6: 3 and in the fifth set he outclassed the tournament’s top four 6: 0. The Norwegian suffered the worst Grand Slam defeat of his career. He has never lost at the majors against an opponent from a similar position in the ATP rankings.

The great Lehecka

The Mladá Boleslav native got off to a great start. At Wimbledon he continues without losing a set. He hasn’t even tasted the aftertaste of a lost serve yet. After the Austrian Ofner, he has clearly beaten the seeded Argentine Cerundolo.

Lehecek’s Wimbledon debut ended in the first round last year, this year he will play in the third round. He will face American Paul, who is the number 16 seed at Wimbledon. Another big challenge for the Czech player.

The 2010 Wimbledon finalist is working with Lehecka as his consultant. And so far the cooperation is bearing fruit. Let’s hope the great results are not over.

An unfinished duel in Murray’s living room

The match between Britain’s Murray and Greece’s Tsitsipas was the highlight of Thursday’s programme. The Greek tennis player, although the ranked favourite for the match, approached the match and his opponent with great respect. He had never played on the centre court at the All England Club before.

Unlike his opponent, the two-time Wimbledon champion has so much experience with this iconic venue that Tsitsipas did not hesitate to refer to it as Murray’s living room before the match. And who played better in it?

In an unfinished match, the home player had more of the game. Both tennis players won one set in the tiebreak, and Murray was better in the third, winning 6: 4. All tennis fans will have to wait a day for the match to finish.

Zero chance for Wawrinka

Thirty-eight-year-old Wawrinka is happy to advance to the third round and is looking forward to his next match against Novak Djokovic. The Swiss tennis player rated his chances at Wimbledon as zero.

Djokovic sees no weakness in his upcoming opponent’s game. The Serbian tennis player plays the right shots at the right time and Wawrinka admitted that he likes to watch him play.

So on Friday night he will have the opportunity to watch him directly from the other half of the tennis court and also do everything he can to find at least a grain of hope for his success.
