The Australian Open winner continues his great form. Jannik Sinner extended his winning streak, which started in November, at the Masters tournament in Indian Wells. How many matches in a row has the Italian tennis player won and who will be facing him in the coming days?

Sinner Winner

His rise was expected. Yet Jannik Sinner surprises with how dominant a player he has become. Since the final of the Tournament of Champions in November, he has walked away as the winner of every match he has entered.

The 22-year-old has won his maiden grand slam title, led the Italians to win the Davis Cup and beaten the big players in that period. First and foremost, Novak Djokovic. Twice.

During his excellent streak, Sinner also beat Australian de Minaur, who is part of the ATP top ten, twice. During this period, even the Russians Medvedev and Rublev were no match for him.

The bottom line is that the world number three has now won sixteen matches in a row. The score is 41:5 in favour of the Italian.

Indian Wells

Sinner’s first opponent at the Masters in California was Australian Kokinakkis. He was the first to threaten after an even opening. But he did not take advantage of his break point and the Italian was the first to get his opponent’s serve.

He dominated the rest of the match. But he doesn’t feel invincible. “I’m not invincible, I’m just well prepared,” Sinner said after the match. He enjoys his position as a Grand Slam winner, but he knows that with every tournament comes new conditions to which he has to adapt.

The Italian’s winning streak will be put to a big test at Indian Wells. This is a Masters tournament with a great field. So what opponents might follow?

Sinner will face Germany’s Struff in the eighth round. He will be the clear favourite against an eleven years older opponent. His next opponent may be the local youngster Ben Shelton, the conqueror of Jakub Mensik.

After that, Rublev, Zverev or Alcaraz may follow. The expected rematch with Djokovic or Medvedev will not happen before the final. And in both cases it would be a highlight. That’s already certain.
