The UFC could lose another one of its stars. The legendary and popular Nate Diaz, one of the biggest draws of the organization, has asked for his release on social media.
Nate Diaz is a legend not only in the UFC, but in MMA in general. The now 36-year-old American fighter has been with the biggest organization in the world since 2007. Since then he has had 26 fights in it.
Besides, Diaz is one of the biggest stars of the organization ever, his name can be found on three of the top ten selling UFC events on PPV.
He currently has two losses under his belt, with one more fight left on his contract. There has been a lot of talk about a possible fight with Dustin Poirier or Conor McGregor, neither has panned out.
Recently, Diaz announced on Twitter that he’s looking to get into the upcoming Bellator tournament, which will take place on April 23 in Hawaii. He would like to be featured on the same card as his friend Yancy Medeiros.
He can’t expect the UFC to let him into a rival organization’s tournament. Moreover, Diaz has been pushing for a fight for a long time, he hasn’t gotten one. So he took to Twitter to ask for his release from the UFC.
“Sorry to do this online but you didn’t give me a fight as soon as possible,” Diaz justified his move.
