The UFC is preparing the return of a legend! White has already confirmed the opponents

Lightweight in UFC is alive! Justin Gaethje will soon fight for the title with Charles Oliveira, plus the legendary Tony Ferguson will be back in action against the recent title challenger.

At almost 38 years old, the legendary Tony Ferguson is in the worst phase of his career and faces an uncertain future. He has three defeats in a row and the next one could cost him his place in the UFC.

But is he somehow afraid of that? Wrong. Not long ago, one of the most feared fighters in the lightweight division would likely have a very tough opponent. UFC boss Dana White revealed that he’s arranging for Ferguson to fight 35-year-old Michael Chandler.

Chandler entered the UFC as a big water when he defeated Dan Hooker, however he was beaten by Charles Oliveira in the title fight, then lost on points to Justin Gaethje, who will be the next title challenger, in one of the best fights of 2021.

Like Ferguson, Chandler’s potential future in the UFC is quite tilted. This will be a very important fight for both fighters as well given their position in the rankings. Chandler is currently sixth, Ferguson seventh.

But nothing is official yet. White says that he hasn’t signed either fighter for this fight yet, but both are likely to agree to the fight.

2022 is going to be a really interesting year from a lightweight division perspective. In addition, Conor McGregor, who refuses to accept that he’s past his zenith, will also be looking to return around the middle of the year.
