The UFC is facing a bizarre fight for Africa. “The Fake African” Adesanya will take on South Africa’s Du Plessis
Israel Adesanya is back on his throne after a brief hiatus, waiting for the name of his next challenger. He found out at UFC 290, where he fought Robert Whittaker and Dricus Du Plessis for the fight. He has a backlog of feuds with the latter in particular, but those will be settled in the cage. It’s just a matter of when that will be.

After his loss to Alex Pereira, he didn’t wait long to return to the throne. Israel Adesanya is king again and has been waiting for the name of his next opponent. But he’s not having an easy time of it. He’s fought and beaten everyone at the top of the division. However, close to the top five was Dricuss Du Plessis.
Du Plessis represents South Africa, was the number seven middleweight until this weekend, and hasn’t lost since coming to the UFC. And that’s true even after his fight with the legendary Robert Whittaker, who he fought for the Adesanya fight.
Whittaker was the favorite going into the fight as the number two middleweight. However, Adesanya himself wanted Du Plessis to win. He had his reasons. The main reason is the audacity of the South African fighter and also the fight for Africa.
However, the shake-up between Adesanya and Du Plessis has been bizarre from the start. Why? Du Plessis may be South African, but as a white man he refers to the Nigerian-born man living in New Zealand as a fake African. After beating Whittaker, his fight with Adesanya is more or less a sure thing.
Adesanya lived on the African continent until he was 10 years old and still proudly claims his Nigerian roots. So Du Plessis’ words have offended him. So much so that he even included racial innuendo in the trashtalk.
The champion would like to fight Du Plessis in South Africa, the country of his next opponent. However, it’s questionable how much the UFC will be in favor of that. It’s not too much to count on, though.
But his goal is clear. “I’m going to torture this guy. There’s no time for bullshit. You can fight without talking too much. Be careful what you wish for. He’ll get what he wants,” Adesanya had earlier expressed, according to Daily Mail.
Once Du Plessis was able to finish Whittaker, Adesanya stormed the cage. He assured his ace that he definitely didn’t need any DNA tests to confirm that he wasn’t a fake African. The whole thing seems extremely personal. The UFC has an interesting plot to unravel.
