The UFC boss was really annoyed by the Georgian fighter’s behaviour: this is a new level of stupidity!
Georgian fighter Merab Dvalishvili did something pretty stupid before his title fight with UFC champion Sean O’Malley. In fact, in preparation for the September fight, he posted footage of his injury on social media, which outraged not only his fans, but also UFC President Dana White.

- Merab Dvalishvili posted footage of his injury on social media less than a month before his fight with Sean O’Malley
- UFC President Dana White has harshly criticized his behavior
- The fight between Dvalishvili and O’Malley will take place on September 14 at UFC 306 in Las Vegas
Georgian fighter Merab Dvalishvili is on an impressive streak of 10 straight wins. He is now preparing for the fight of his life against current UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley on September 14 in Las Vegas.
Dvalishvili suffered a minor injury during training – he tore his eyebrow. Instead of keeping it a secret, as is customary in professional sports, he decided to share footage of the injury on social media.
Dvalishvili under fire from critics
However, the move was met with harsh criticism from Dana White, who was not at all pleased with Dvalishvili flaunting his injury in this way. “Now the whole world knows about Merab having a lacerated eyebrow,” White said at a press conference after Dana White’s Contender Series tournament. “Our guys are so stupid sometimes. This is a new level of stupid. Why would he want Sean O’Malley to know that?”
White’s criticism didn’t stop with Dvalishvili. He pointed out that, just like in boxing, where such information is often kept secret, UFC fighters should be smarter and not expose weaknesses in front of their opponents. “This is just a little injury, nothing serious, but of course he had to brag about it,” White added with a heavy dose of irony.
Despite the criticism, Dvalishvili assured fans that he will go into his fight against O’Malley at full strength. He promised them that he would not be discouraged by the injury in any way and that he would do everything to win the title.
Merab “The Machine” Dvalishvili, earned respect not only for his performances in the octagon, but also for his tenacity and perseverance. The fight with O’Malley will undoubtedly be the biggest challenge of his career. Will he be able to make it to the very top of the UFC bantamweight division?
The answer to that question will be revealed on September 14 at UFC 306 in Las Vegas. This fight promises to be one of the most exciting fights of the year and MMA fans will not want to miss it.
