The cup journey begins today for both Slavia and Sparta, with the Susians taking on St. Joseph’s in Gibraltar. It’s the first game of the season so the Slavs have nothing to save, what line-up will they play?

Estimating Jindřich Trpišovský’s line-up is sometimes a big lottery. The coach of Slavia likes to rotate the line-up and come up with surprises for the opponents, but given that this is the first game of the season, we can’t expect any big changes.

So the dress rehearsal, which the Susians played against Puskás Academy, could be indicative. It was pretty close to the starting line-up.

Aleš Mandous should start in goal. At the end of the season he slowly gained the position of number one in the senior team, he played two out of three games in the preparation, including the dress rehearsal.

There might be a big surprise at right back. Trpišovský had Ivan Schranz here in the preparation, who also played in this unusual position in the dress rehearsal. Especially against weaker opponents, his support in attack could help the team a lot. If the coaches had chosen a more conservative option, they would have pointed to David Doudera.

The stopper pairing is solid and unchanging, all three friendly matches played by the Sšiovans were played by the Eduardo – Ousou duo. Oscar and David Jurásek will fight for the left-back position, in Gibraltar it looks more like Oscar.

The central trio should be Holeš – Traoré – Provod. At the moment, these are the players with the greatest form and the big pillars of the team.

On the left wing we expect a Brazilian samba by Ewerton. He has shown great results in the preparation and pushed out Peter Olayinka, who still hasn’t been sold. On the other side, Moses Usor, a young Slavic discovery who caught the eye in the preparation, could get a chance.

At the top of the attack, the decision will be between Yiro Sor and Vaclav Jurecka. The fast Nigerian is a type for Europe, the Slovácko reinforcement is a killer in the box. However, St. Joseph’s are not expected to play open football, but Sor is expected to start anyway.

Probable line-up of Slavia::

Mandous
Schranz – Eduardo – Ousou – Oscar
Holeš – Traoré
Usor – Provod – Ewerton
Sor

Trpišovský will have Peter Olayinka, Václav Jurecka, Ondřej Lingr, David Douděra, Matěj Valenta and Daniel Fila on the bench.
