The trial in the Kúdela vs. Kamara case has been postponed from 21 January to 11 April. The whole case has been dragging on since last year, when Slavia Prague clashed with Rangers, during which there was a clash and allegedly racist insults.

Glen Kamara accused Ondrej Kudel of racist insults. The Slavic defender was given a ten-match ban by UEFA. However, the Czech international has appealed against the punishment.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport postponed the case. The original hearing was due to take place on 21 January, but due to problems with the coronavirus, everything would have to take place online. Kudel’s attorneys did not want that, so the trial was moved to April 11.

“Due to the anti-pandemic measures, CAS has offered to hold the hearing online on the original date of 21 January, or to postpone it,” Ondřej Kúdela’s representatives told Seznam news.

”Given that several witnesses are called, including Glen Kamara, whom we want to cross-examine, for which it is important to have an immediate reaction that would be lost in an online environment, we have agreed with UEFA that we are not interested in an online hearing. And so it was adjourned until April.

Kamara took a sharp swipe at Kudela after the match, in which he said he was racially assaulted. He physically attacked him in the bowels of the stadium. He received a three-match suspension for the conflict. Nevertheless, Ondrej Kúdela received a heavier punishment, even though guilt was not directly proven.

Kúdela has already appealed his sentence once, but failed. He lost the European championship and the opportunity to represent the Czech Republic. Moreover, he was injured during the autumn part of the season, so he has already served his sentence.

However, he wishes to finish his sentence. The main priority remains clearing Kudel’s name from the false accusation by the Rangers midfielder.

Kamara’s problems with Czech teams carried over into the autumn when his Rangers played Sparta. In that game, the player received a red card and Sparta won. After the match, the Scottish club complained about further racist behaviour.

This time it was alleged to be racist abuse by Spartan fans. However, UEFA did not punish Sparta or its fans in any way.
