The first clash of Europe against the rest of the world took place on Czech soil at the O2 Arena in 2017. Back then, Tomas Berdych was in attendance and he and his teammates and captain Björn Borg enjoyed triumph at the event named after Australian legend Rod Laver.
The project, which is owned by Roger Federer’s company, moved successively to Chicago, Geneva and Boston in the following years. However, it was played at the TD Garden there with a one-year postponement, the coronavirus pandemic postponed the fourth installment of the Laver Cup to 2021.
In all cases, however, the European tennis players defeated the world’s selection, led by John McEnroe. This year, the event returns to the O2 Arena, but this time it’s in London. By the way, among the Europeans, the duo of Fedal, that is Federer and Nadal, should be present again on September 23-25.
Now the Laver Cup management has announced the upcoming host cities. Next year, fans in Canada can look forward to a stellar sporting spectacle, as Europe and the world will clash in Vancouver, specifically at Rogers Arena.
And we also know the venue for the unique event for September 2024. The German capital Berlin will be the venue for a weekend of tennis, so Czech viewers won’t have to go far either. The original black playing court will be located in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
