The tournament in Guadalajara has a semi-final day on the schedule. Who will the Czech tennis players meet?

The last major WTA event before the Champions Tournament culminates in Mexico this weekend. It will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, from 31 October to 7 November. But before that, we’ll get to know the winners of the “thousand” in Guadalajara. The semi-finals of singles and doubles will take place on Saturday night. And the Czech Republic is still represented in both competitions.

The last major WTA event before the Champions Tournament culminates in Mexico this weekend. It will take place in Fort Worth, Texas, from 31 October to 7 November. But before that, we’ll get to know the winners of the “thousand” in Guadalajara. The semi-finals of singles and doubles will take place on Saturday night. And the Czech Republic is still represented in both competitions.

In singles, Marie Bouzkova, who advanced from the quarter-finals after scratching her opponent Anna Kalinskaya of Russia. The Prague native will take on top-seeded Maria Sakkariova in the match scheduled to start at 2 a.m. CET. In the previous round, the Greek also defeated her Russian opponent, namely Veronika Kudermetova, in a three-set clash.

Before that, the other semifinal pairing will appear on the hard-surfaced court in Mexico’s second largest seat. Starting at midnight, Belarus’ Viktoria Azarenka, the conqueror of Cori Gauff, and Jessica Pegula will face each other. The American has gone past another compatriot, Sloane Stephens.

Czech tennis fans can also look forward to the performances of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova. The star doubles duo will face Anna Danilinova of Kazakhstan and Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil at 21:30 for the final spot as the top-seeded pair.

The second doubles match, which will conclude the semi-final programme, will be played by China’s Xu Yifan, Yang Zhaoxuan and the Australian-Brazilian duo Storm Sanders, Luisa Stefani. Live coverage of the Guadalajara Open Akron will be broadcast by O2 TV Sport and O2 TV Tennis.

Alongside the big event in the Mexican city, the WTA 125 women’s lower category tournament is taking place in Rouen, France. There, Viktorija Golubic and Varvara Grachova and Maryna Zanevskaya and Kamila Rachimova will battle it out for the final.

The Czech Republic is also represented in the final events. Renata Voráčová will play against Natele Dzalamidze and the aforementioned Rachimova alongside the home team’s Jessika Ponchetová. The winners of this clash will face the Japanese-Georgian pair of Misaki Doiova, Oxana Kalashnikova in the title match.
