There has been a lot of speculation over the last week or so about Erling Haaland. The 20-year-old Norwegian striker is believed to be heading to Chelsea in London. For Roman Abramovich, Chelsea’s owner, this transfer will be very expensive.
Erling Haaland, the greatest talent of our time, is expected to change his jersey again after two seasons at Dortmund. He is heading to London, where not only the coach Thomas Tuchel is interested in him, but also the billionaire Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Abramovich is a big fan of Haaland and, as is well known, is not afraid to spend. We could see this in last summer’s transfer window when Kai Havertz came to Chelsea for 80 million euros, Timo Werner for 53 million euros and Hakim Ziyech for 40 million euros.
According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Chelsea offered Dortmund €70 million + Tammy Abraham for Haaland. The German club has not yet responded to the offer.
“Personal terms and contract will not be a problem for Chelsea or Haaland. Chelsea is confident that it can reach an agreement with the player. The problem could arise regarding the transfer fee. If everything can be brought to a successful conclusion, it could be the third most expensive transfer in history, ” said Liam Twomey of The Athletic UK
We could see a Haaland – Werner strike duo at Chelsea next season. Strikers Giroud and Abraham are likely to leave the club and Haaland would probably fill the number one striker position. Werner could move to the wing, where he has already played a few games under Tuchel.
This possible Haaland transfer would probably become the third most expensive in history. First place is defended by Neymar, who is hard to beat. He moved to PSG for 222 million euros.
The second place is held by Kylian Mbappé together with Philippe Coutinho. Both cost 145 million euros. But it is not impossible that Haaland could surpass them and move to Chelsea for more than 145 million euros.
