Nottingham Forest may be a newcomer to the Premier League, but they are throwing money around in an incredible way. Thanks to the huge income from TV rights and also for the promotion from the final game, the newcomer could help itself with big signings.

Barcelona, Chelsea… And then Nottingham Forest. Those are the biggest spenders in this transfer window. The Premier League newcomer has already spent 148 million euros and still doesn’t have enough, the coach has said he would welcome one or two more reinforcements.

Nottingham spent the most money on Morgan Gibbs-White, the 22-year-old midfielder came from Wolves for €30m. He was followed by striker Taiwo Awoniyi, the 24-year-old Nigerian from Union Berlin cost 20 million euros.

Nottingham paid the same amount for Nec Williams, a 21-year-old talented Liverpool midfielder. Forest then shelled out almost 15 million euros for another striker, 24-year-old Emmanuel Dennis came from Watford.

But the strengthening didn’t stop there either, with 24-year-old Belgian midfielder Orel Mangala arriving from Stuttgart for €13 million. Forest paid €10 million for 26-year-old French stopper Moussa Niakhate, who arrived from Mainz 05.

The same amount was cashed in by Troyes, who sold 22-year-old right-back Giuliano Biancome to the Premier League newcomer. huddersfield then cashed in €9.5 million for 23-year-old midfielder Lewis O’Brien.

The only older player Forest paid for in the summer is Swiss Remo Freuler. The 30-year-old midfielder arrived from Atalanta for €9 million. Left back Omar Richards, who has both English and Jamaican citizenship, arrived from Bayern Munich for €8.5 million.

The 26-year-old left back Harry Tofolo arrived from Huddersfield for 2.5 million euros. And for just under a million euros Forest brought in 19-year-old offensive midfielder Brandon Aguilera from Costa Rica’s Alajuelense.

To that we have to add players who arrived for free after their contracts expired, but they have the biggest names from the whole list. After finishing at Manchester United, 29-year-old Jesse Lingard arrived, while 32-year-old defensive shield Cheikhou Kouyaté arrived from Crystal Palace.

Forest have strengthened a lot in goal too. The 25-year-old Dean Henderson came on loan from Manchester United, who grabbed a penalty against West Ham and saved the 1-0 win. 35-year-old Wayne Hennessey came from Burnley to be his number two.

This brings the total to 148 million euros and that may not be all. Forest are interested in Lucas Paqueta from Lyon. Several teams in the Premier League are interested in the 24-year-old technical Brazilian and his price would certainly not go below 40 million euros.
