In the summer of 2021, 18-year-old Eduardo Camavinga moved to the famous Real Madrid, followed a year later by his compatriot Aurélien Tchouaméni. The era of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kanté is slowly coming to an end and the talented French midfielders are now in tatters. Here are the hottest candidates for a big summer move.

Youssouf Fofana

the 24-year-old Monaco player represented France at the recent World Cup in Qatar and even played a full game in the semi-final against Morocco. He has certainly made his presence known with his performances, he can play as a classic central midfielder as well as a defensive shield and would fit in with a lot of clubs immediately. Liverpool in England have already expressed interest in him.

Maxence Caqueret

Lyon breed talented midfielders really often, but sometimes they keep them for too long. Caqueret has been one of the cornerstones of Lyon’s lineup for the third season now, but any major speculation about his departure has not come.

Anyway, Lyon have already found his successor as a defensive playmaker and that is another talent, Johann Lepenant.

Kouadio Koné

Christopher Vivell tried to push through his transfer to Chelsea in January, but Liverpool are also circling around him. He has developed into a key player for Gladbach over the course of a season and a half, and despite being mainly a defensive shield, he is often involved in play-action and playmaking.

Khéphren Thuram

Another player Liverpool are interested in. Son of the famous Lilian Thuram and brother of striker Marcus, he will also be a hot commodity in the summer. He has the advantage of avoiding major injuries so far and has started every game for OGC Nice in Ligue 1 this season.

Mattéo Guendouzi

Played regularly at Arsenal under Emery, but then came a loan spell in Berlin and, after another year spent in Marseille, a permanent move to France.

He can play a more defensive but also a more offensive position. This is proven by his 4 goals and 6 assists last year. In January, there was speculation about a move to Aston Villa, where another French midfielder Kamara has been playing since the summer.
