The second coach in the Premier League to be sacked. Will Rodgers wrap things up at Leicester now, or will he make one last push?
Leicester failed to win their sixth league game, this time losing quite clearly at Brighton. There are already rumours in England that Brendand Rodgers will be sacked either immediately or in case of another failure. However, according to English legends, he has lost his spark and should call it a day.

You often see teams that are not performing well, but on the pitch everyone is trying. But that’s not the case with the Foxes, who look completely resigned, as if the life has gone out of them. The same is true of Rodgers, who started when the club management started selling key players and didn’t allow him to bring anyone in.
The reason? That’s pretty clear, the club’s financial situation was not favourable and they had to sell. Supposedly for the sake of long-term stability, which apparently translates to the owners wanting to save money, which is hardly surprising given the very uncertain times.
Rodgers made his frustration clear after the Manchester United game in an interview with Sky Sports. It’s frustrating, but I respect that.”
That he is certainly not going to pack his bags, at least not on his own initiative, is clear from his comments after the Brighton game::
“I’ve never given up on anything and until someone tells me to quit, I’ll keep going. I will never lose confidence in what I am doing. It’s a challenge but I’m responsible for the results and they are not good at the moment. But football can change very quickly. One good result can give the players their confidence back.”
The 49-year-old coach certainly cannot be expected to give up his contract, which he has signed with the club until 2025. That would have to be the case and, looking back at history, a small handful of people who have mostly been committed to the club for their entire professional lives have done it.
Still, an experienced coach should have no complaints when he has the 8th most valuable squad in the Premier League at his disposal. However, the performances are far from matching that. A nice comparison can be made with Brighton, who have the 3rd lowest value squad in the league but are currently in 4th place.
If indeed Rodgers stays on the Foxes bench, he has the perfect opportunity to kick-start a turnaround when his charges face Aston Villa, where Steven Gerrard also does not have a firm place on the bench. However, his players managed to pick up a point against Manchester City and he is in a much better position.
