The rivalry continues? McGregor could face Khabib’s charge! The sooner the better, says the Irishman
Here we go. The rivalry can continue. It didn’t end with the 2018 rematch. Conor McGregor could meet Khabib Nurmagomedov again. While the Irishman would be in the cage, the Dagestani would coach his charge through the mesh.

When Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in the fall of 2018, their rivalry was far from over. The Irishman sought a rematch, but the Dagestani retired before it could even happen.
So far, however, this is the fight that has sold the most pay-per-views by far. Both fighters have been constantly at each other, with McGregor unsurprisingly being the more active in this regard. He is now recovering from an injury he picked up in his last fight with Dustin Poirier.
So the Irishman is getting himself together so that he can get back in the cage and score another fight in the summer or so. He has already challenged lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, and there has also been talk of a fight with Michael Chandler or the legendary Tony Ferguson. But now he has a new target.
Islam Makhachev, who Khabib has been regularly in his corner since the end of his fighting career, is calling for a lightweight title fight with his performances. Makhachev, however, has to wait for a title fight.
He lost his opponent Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 272 and Makhachev volunteered to fight him, only to eventually pull out of the fight at the last minute. At least that’s what UFC boss Dana White says. The Dagestani has to earn his title shot with one more win.
And it is McGregor who wants to deprive him of that, as he has lashed out at Makhachev in several posts on his Twitter account. He referred to Makhachev and his entourage as a “rat family” and called himself a “McDeratizer”.
What is certain is that given the current form of both fighters, Khabib’s charge would enter the fight as the favorite. Will we see this spicy fight?
