A great return to silver! Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 has unveiled the shape of the new monopost, or rather its colour combination. There are more than enough questions, but one thing is certain. Lewis Hamilton can storm to a record eighth triumph next season!

The Mercedes W13 is the eighth car to be revealed ahead of the new season. At the same time, the team is returning to the silver colour, having applied black to its monoposts in the two previous years.

The reason for this was nothing other than to participate in the fight against racism. Also, Lewis Hamilton has been pushing for diversity for some time now, and so the black colours of the car and the overalls have become an integral part of the team’s image.

With the 2022 season, Formula 1 is entering a new era, accompanied by a number of changes to both the technical parameters of the monpoles themselves and the regulations. It must be added – the cars that the teams have presented so far will still be very different from the ones we will see at the start of this season.

Mercedes will then enter the new season looking to extend its streak of constructors’ titles.

In the 2021 season, they will stand atop the Constructors’ Cup for the eighth consecutive season, with Hamilton again in contention for a record eighth world championship title.

“Like every year, we are sceptical whether we have really done a good job. But that’s the right mentality. There is nothing you can carry over from previous years into the new season. You start from scratch,” said Toto Wolff, quoted by Motorsport, at the presentation of the new car.

“I haven’t set any goals for this year. Naturally, I think everyone in the team is working to win the championship, to raise the bar again and to do something that no one else has done before,” added Hamilton.

George Russell, who joins Mercedes from Williams to replace Valtteri Bottas, will race alongside Lewis Hamilton this season.

So can Mercedes defend its championship title again? How will Russell fare in his new team or will Hamilton break the magic threshold of world championships? The 2022 season will be very interesting in many ways.
