Viktoria Plzeň have a rematch in the third round of the Champions League. They defeated Sherif Tiraspol 2-1 in the opening match and will now challenge them at home. What did captain Lukáš Hejda say at the pre-match press conference?
Viktoria Plzeň have already secured the group stage of the Conference Europa League. However, they are now playing Champions League qualification and if they succeed in the rematch with Sherif Tiraspol, they will play at least the Europa League.
For now, however, the group stage of the best of the European competitions is still in play. Viktoria won the opening match of the qualification and if they advance, they have only one more opponent to beat. It will only need to avoid losing to Sheriff to advance.
“Tiraspol is an unpleasant opponent that shoots from every position. They are excellent in one-on-one situations, one has to be on his toes all the time. Their individual quality is at a high level, but all in all we managed to win the first match and take away a great result,” said captain Lukas Hejda at the press conference.
“The result plays into our hands, but we must not be lulled into thinking that it will be easy now! It‘s going to be hard work, but I believe that we can do it and advance,” he added.
Viktoria showed their quality in the last league game when they managed to beat a well-defying Pardubice team in the end. It intends to win now as well, which would help the coefficient.
“We are betting on the home environment, where we play well. A full stadium will come, that will definitely propel us. We won’t play 0:0 to defend it, we want to win at home. We will go all out!” hejda concluded.
