Olivier Giroud, the thirty-four year old striker of Chelsea London, is heading to AC Milan in Italy! The multiple English FA Cup winner, Community Shield winner with Arsenal, Champions League winner, Europa League winner, and also FA Cup winner with Chelsea, is expected to defend the red and black colours next year.
Olivier Giroud is headed to Italian side AC Milan, but the latter is not planning to pay big money for the player and is expected to send a replacement.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic would also enjoy the transfer of the French striker. “He has a lot of experience and we don’t have many players in Milan who have won any trophies. He is a born winner. If he comes, he will be welcome. The more top players we bring in, the better,” he said in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.
AC Milan have battled their way into the millionaire Champions League after seven long years and it is no wonder he wants to strengthen. The team from the city of fashion would thus have three experienced spearhead strikers on its roster, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Mandzukic and Olivier Giroud.
The transfer should be made despite Chelsea activating a one-year extension to Giroud’s contract. The club doesn’t want to let players go for free, and it just goes to show how excellent the London club’s transfer policy is.
Along with Giroud, English stopper Fikayo Tomori is also expected to join AC Milan. He already wore the AC Milan jersey last season, when he was in Milan just from Chelsea on loan and managed to play 22 games, score one goal and not get a single card.
The Italian club will exercise the option for a permanent transfer, which amounts to 28.5 million euros. Tomori will sign a 5-year contract until June 2026.
