The referee who whistled Slavia and Rangers is going to Jablonec. Council: If he had sent off the players who kicked Kuchta, nothing would have happened

Slavia does not have good memories of referee Orel Grinfeeld. Yes, he gave out two red cards to Rangers players, but he didn’t handle the game well and contributed to the consequences. Now Jablonec will get to know the Israeli referee first hand.

The incidents from the March duel between Rangers and Slavia do not need much recalling. However, at least the consequences can be recalled. Ondrej Kolář will be playing with a helmet for the rest of his life and it is objectively possible that the challenging injury is behind his decline in form.

Ondrej Kúdela has cost 10 games in European Cups, missing for example the double with Arsenal, the EURO of a lifetime or the European Cup preliminary rounds in the summer. Probably because of this, Slavia did not qualify for the Champions League or Europa League and only play in the Conference League.

But the one who had a big part in all of this continues to sail through untroubled. If only Eagle Grinfeeld had started pulling cards from the start of the game then and not let the Rangers players practice MMA, the game might not have turned into what it did at all.

Now Jablonec will meet him, as Grinfeeld is seeded for the Northerners’ match against Randers.

“I think he won’t allow himself anything. What happened in Glasgow, let them deal with it themselves, we are concentrating on the game. And I think the referees are also concentrating on themselves, I don’t think they should allow themselves to do anything in this competition and retaliate against anyone,” said Jablonec back Jan Krob at the press conference.

In a similar vein, coach Petr Rada also commented on referee Grinfeeld, but he did not forgive himself for a small dig.

“I hope that the Israeli will want to call it off, as it is proper in the international arena. The match against Slavia at Rangers is already over, it is useless to go back to it. He probably knows he made a mistake there. If he had sent off the home players who kicked Kuchta, there would have been peace and nothing would have happened,” Rada is sure.
