The referee is a disgrace! Like in the Greek league, complains Panathinaikos official
That was a wild fight. Slavia played a great game against Panathinaikos, winning 2:0 in Eden after goals by Schranz and Usor. It was also helped by the sending off of Sebastian Palacios, which the Greeks didn’t like at all.
That was a wild fight. Slavia played a great game against Panathinaikos, winning 2:0 in Eden after goals by Schranz and Usor. It was also helped by the sending off of Sebastian Palacios, which the Greeks didn’t like at all.
It all started in the 31st minute when Palacios was shown a yellow card for a foul. Ten minutes later, he broke free beautifully in the middle of the pitch and made it all the way to the whitewash. But there he tried to win a penalty and too blatantly went down. Ousou took the ball cleanly with a slip.
After falling to the ground, he immediately looked back at the referee to see if he would blow the whistle. He did, but instead of pointing to the spot, referee Buquet pointed away from the Slavia goal and showed Palacios a yellow card for simulation. And since it was the second, the Argentine headed for the locker room.
This angered the Panathinaikos players a lot, who broke down to the referee. Perez saw a yellow card for protesting and a member of the management team saw a red card.
And there was a lot of complaining on social media. That fans are protesting is logical, but here it even came in an official way. The official Panathinaikos account did not hold back and announced the red card as follows
And the Panathinaikos account managers didn’t vent their anger enough, so they got even angrier. “Refereeing at local league level. Shame.”
And the Greek fans are joining in. “Get off the pitch! This is crazy, ” wrote an angry Panathinaikos supporter.
“UEFA did this on purpose because they don’t like Panathinaikos. For three years we couldn’t play cups because of financial fair-play and now we are going to be kicked out because of the referee,” another Panathinaikos fan came up with his theory.
