The first Fight Night Challenge gala offered several interesting confrontations. The highlight of the evening was the fight between Attila Vegh and Patrik Kinclo, two rivals of Karlos Vémola, who introduced both fighters in the cage.
Végh won 3: 0 on points after an even match, but Kincl accepted the fight two days before it took place.
“Hats off to Patrik for taking it. I wouldn’t have gone to fight anyone on the Czechoslovak scene. I was happy it was him. He’s anexperienced fighter, he’s got something under his belt, and now he’s going to fight for the title in the Octagon,” Végh said at the post-fight press conference.
Kincl and Pirate will battle for the Octagon title, and he was able to watch the fight with his own eyes. “Great performances by both fighters, nice fight. But I didn’t see anything new with Patrik. I believe that I can be tougher in my attitude,” expressed Samuel Kristofich, who will fight Kincl in February.
Krištofič also had an interesting fight, as he faced Alex Cverna, who is about 20 kilograms heavier. The duel ended in a draw. The Pirate was praised for his performance by Vémola as a true professional.
“I’m not in a position to have some trash talk with that injured arm. Pirat gave a good performance. I guess it’s hard to prepare for an opponent when there’s a 90% chance he won’t come in, so maybe he took it lightly,” joked Terminator about his friend Cverna.
Meanwhile, it was Cverna who was under immense pressure. Few expected him to actually get in. For he has had terrible luck lately, having been injured or infected with the coronavirus before fights.
That’s also why Vemola’s friend would be willing to step in even if he was sick or in a wheelchair. The pressure, he said, was no longer bearable.
