The PGA Tour has prepared a nice surprise for golfers in the form of a massive increase in prizes. How much will the top players now earn?

Cumulative earnings will rise to $838 million next year. This represents an average tournament endowment of $9.1 million, an increase of $1.1 million.

In terms of individual tournaments, specifically, there will be an increase in bonuses for finishing in the FedEx Cup. Up until now, those bonuses have been $60 million, but after the increase, they will be up to $75 million.

The Comcast Business TOUR TOP 10 bonus, which will be split among the top 10 golfers after the FedEx Cup regular season, has even doubled. This bonus will now have a total value of $20 million.

The FedEx Cup playoff bonuses have also been increased. For the first two tournaments, they will increase by $5.5 million to $15 million, with more now going to the winner of the Tour Championship. He will now earn $18 million.

These are indeed massive increases. PGA Tour officials are hoping this will discourage star players from participating in emerging competitive series. They want to hedge their bets with these bonuses.

The European Tour, which announced the move ahead of the final tournament in Dubai, is also increasing its bonuses dramatically. This also entails a name change, with the event now being called the DP World Tour.
