April and May on the ATP tour will belong to clay. Four tournament highlights await the best tennis players in these two months. What are the events and what are the biggest questions for these upcoming weeks?

The highlights of the clay court season

On clay, tennis fans can look forward to three tournaments in the Masters category. All will take place in Europe.

Starting on April 7, the Masters in Monte Carlo is already on the schedule. Then, at the end of April, a pair of tournaments of this elite level will be held in succession, first in Madrid and then in Rome.

The clay court season has its traditional highlight. From the 26th, all attention will shift to Paris. The French capital will host the French Open.

The main expectations at the ATP circuit

Now or never! That’s how it is with the expected return of Rafael Nadal to the tennis courts.

After a renewed debut in Brisbane, the legendary Spaniard was supposed to make his appearance in Indian Wells. That didn’t happen and it is expected that it is in the clay part of the year that we will finally see Nadal.

It is tentatively expected that the king of clay will participate at least in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and of course at Roland Garros in Paris.

But Nadal’s plans have already changed many times this year. The situation will be interesting to watch. Hopefully, we will see the Spanish veteran as much as possible.

Another big question is also connected to the Spaniard. Last year, Carlos Alcaraz reigned supreme on the slowest surface. Right out of the gate, Alcaraz won 12 matches in a row. During that time, he dominated the Barcelona event and the Masters in Madrid.

He was then stopped in the semi-finals by Djokovic at the French Open. But then Alcaraz was not medically fit. His performance will be another highly watched issue in the spring months.
