The opponent surprised us pleasantly, I wouldn’t consider the first goal my best in Slavia, says Sor

Slavia defeated St. Joseph’s 4:0 in the second round of the European Conference League, Yira Sor contributed two goals. What did the Nigerian hitman say in his post-match interview for the club’s website?
Slavia went into the match with a very international line-up. Only three Czechs, two Brazilians, a Swede, a Frenchman and four Africans. And it was the foreign players who played the main role, with Sor scoring twice, Ewerton once and substitute Ondrej Lingr.
Meanwhile, for the first twenty minutes against the football midgets, the Red and Whites were unsuccessful in conquering the home side’s sanctuary. They had only one big chance and their nervousness was broken by the opening goal in the 21st minute.
“We thought it would be a relatively easy game, but the opponent played very fiercely and aggressively for the first twenty minutes. They resorted to long shots that gave us problems, but later on we were in control, ” Sor told the club website.
It was Sor who once again confirmed that the European Conference League suits him. So far in the new league, he has intervened in seven games in which he has scored eight times and added three goal assists. Since the start of 2022, no one has been more productive in this competition.
Against St. Joseph’s he opened the net twice and the first one was worth it. Ibrahim Traoré found him with a centre from the right and the Nigerian winger sent the ball from a volley just under the crossbar. On the second hit, he opted for a placed finish to the back post.
“I’m happy for him, but I probably wouldn’t consider it the prettiest. After a great assist from Ibra, I was just trying to hit the post and luckily it went nicely under the crossbar, ” continued the 2021/22 Conference League third top scorer.
Alongside the author of Thursday’s two goals, compatriot Moses Usor also played a good game and was not afraid to shoot, assisting on Sor’s second goal. He showed confidence and most importantly real quality on the left foot.
Christ Tiehi, David Doudera, Ewerton and Eduardo Santos all made their debuts in a tight game. Douděra, working with Usor on the left, showed great potential (not just speed), while Tiehi created and invented what he could in midfield.
“I love playing in front of Ibra because he always passes me the ball on the break. I want to praise Usor for his excellent performance, he played very well and assisted me nicely. I have to thank them and the whole team, it was a collective effort. I’m happy for them,” Sor added.
