The Czech national football team is about to play its first match of the Euro 2024 qualification. Coach Jaroslav Šilhavy spoke at the press conference about the absence of Patrik Schick, but was noticeable regarding the lineup reveal.
The 2024 European Championship qualifiers are here, the Czech national football team will face Poland, who they will face in Eden for the top spot in their group.
Coach Jaroslav Šilhavy has nominated, among others, young newcomers who may get a chance to confirm their qualities in the first match.
However, he lost Patrik Schick, whose health problems prevented him from attending the game. “Of course it’s a loss. Who wouldn’t miss the best scorer of the European Championship? Especially when he was competing with Lewandowski for the top scorer position in the Bundesliga.
But we believe that we have other strikers who are in good shape to replace him,” said coach Šilhavy at the press conference.
Also because of this absence, it is worth betting on the attacking duo from Sparta, i.e. Jan Kuchta and Tomáš Čvančara. However, he did not want to tell the journalists whether the coach thinks this way too.
“I don’t want to reveal the line-up, so I can’t comment too much on this. But of course it is offered because there are players from both Slavia and Sparta who are used to each other. It is a possibility, but we will reveal the line-up tomorrow,” he said on Thursday.
The public is also interested in the health of right-back Vladimir Coufal. He has recovered and would like to be part of the lineup not only in the opening game.
“Vláďa trained fully on Wednesday without any relief. He is also ready for the pre-match training, so if nothing happens, he will be available for the match,” explained the national coach.
