The NHL playoffs are around the corner. What does each team need to secure an early ticket to the playoffs?

The teams have about 10 games left in the regular season of NHL. However, some of them are so dominant in this season that they can secure a ticket to the playoffs early. Check out the list of teams affected.

Eastern Conference in the NHL

Boston Bruins (not playing tonight) clinch a playoff spot:

• If the Detroit Red Wings lose to the Carolina Hurricanes by any means.

The Florida Panthers will clinch a playoff berth:

• If they beat the New York Islanders by any means.
• If they score one point in a game against the New York Islanders and one of the following occurs
  • 1. The Red Wings lose to the Hurricanes in any way.
  • 2. The Flyers lose to the Canadiens in regulation time.
• If the Red Wings lose to the Hurricanes in regulation time.

The Carolina Hurricanes clinch a playoff spot:

• If they beat the Detroit Red Wings by any means.
• If they score one point against the Detroit Red Wings and the Philadelphia Flyers lose to the Montreal Canadiens in regulation time.

Western Conference in the NHL

Dallas Stars clinch a playoff spot:

• If they beat the Vancouver Canucks by any means.
• If they get one point against the Canucks and the St. Louis Blues lose to the Flames by any means.
• If the Wild lose to the Sharks by any means and the Blues lose to the Flames in regulation time.

The Vancouver Canucks will clinch a playoff spot:

• If they beat the Dallas Stars by any means.
• If they get one point against the Dallas Stars and the Blues lose to the Calgary Flames by any means.
• If the Wild lose to the Sharks by any means and the St. Louis Blues lose to the Calgary Flames in regulation time.

The Colorado Avalanche will clinch a playoff spot:

• If they defeat the New York Rangers by any means and the St. Louis Blues lose to the Calgary Flames by any means.
• If they get one point against the New York Rangers and one of the following situations occurs
  • The Minnesota Wild lose to the San Jose Sharks by any means.
  • The St. Louis Blues lose to the Calgary Flames in regulation time.
