The upcoming European Championships will feature lots and lots of promising footballers whose current price tag could soar to astronomical heights. So let’s take a look at the most exciting youngsters who will be at the Euros.
10. Nuno Mendes (40 million)
The Portuguese left-back will soon celebrate his 19th birthday and already there is a queue including the most famous football addresses.
He has played four games for the Portuguese national team so far, but has already shown clearly that he has huge potential. The EURO could be a turning point for him if he performs well.
9. Ferran Torres (50 million)
The young Spaniard can already be considered as one of the key men in Enrique’s line-up. He has 11 games in the senior national team in which he has scored six times.
His hat-trick against Germany last November is certainly worth mentioning. Pep Guardiola knows why he brought him over from Valencia.
8. Jude Bellingham (55 million)
Still only 17 years old, the footballer can, with exaggeration, be very happy that the European Championship has been postponed by a year. If it weren’t for that, he probably wouldn’t be happy about an invitation to Gareth Southgate’s twenty-six man squad.
However, there can certainly be no question of whether he deserves it. He is part of Borussia Dortmund’s starting line-up and is showing that he can play football. He is worth watching.
7. Bukayo Saka (65 million)
Arsenal’s gem and hero, on whom Gunners fans pin their hopes. The left-footed winger plays with remarkable vision, doesn’t lack youthful impudence and is usually one of the best that Mikel Arteta sends on the pitch.
Getting into Albion’s packed line-up will not be nearly as easy for Saku compared to Arsenal’s squad, on the other hand, he has shown all season that he deserves a chance at least as a substitute.
6. Kai Havertz (70 million)
The German footballer hasn’t had an easy start at Stamford Bridge. It took him a while to get used to the emphasis of the English Premier League.
The offensive all-rounder ended the club season with a record of 9+9, which is not as much as might have been expected, but not bad at all for a first year in the British Isles. Among other things, he shone with the only goal in the Champions League final against Manchester City.
5. Pedri (70 million)
The Spanish youngster has captivated Catalan side Barcelona. After his arrival from Las Palmas, his steady inclusion in Ronald Koeman’s starting eleven was certainly not expected.
However, the undersized midfielder has clearly made his case for it with his performances. Even the greats of Barcelona’s history, led by Xavi, are singing odes to his play. He may well play in the Spanish national team and he is only 18 years old. An unassuming but very skilful player who reminds many of Iniesta.
4. Matthijs de Ligt (75 million)
The only representative of the defenders on this list. That in itself speaks volumes about his qualities, as generally speaking offensive footballers have slightly higher monetary values.
The Dutch stopper is one of the most important links in the Juventus squad and the same goes for the Dutch national team. There, perhaps even more so, as in the absence of Virgil van Dijk, the leadership of the entire eleven will be up to him.
3. Phil Foden (80 million)
No longer a starlet, but a Manchester City star. Pep Guardiola admired and raved about the talent of the skilful left-back not for nothing a few years back. Foden lives up to his words and perhaps even surpasses them.
A very versatile and productive player offensively, he should be the future of the Citizens and the England national team. He should certainly get his chance to shine and if the tournament goes well, he could well go down as one of the best players in world football today.
2. João Felix (80 million)
The Portuguese Atlético Madrid chic recently celebrated winning the Spanish league title and would understandably like to sweeten his summer with another national trophy. Alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, he should pull off Portugal’s offensive action.
A technically well-equipped footballer, he can shine when needed. At the end of the season, he had a tally of 10 goals and 6 assists. More is certainly expected of him, but his strength is more in playmaking, which could work damn well in conjunction with the goal machine CR7.
1. Jadon Sancho (100 million)
The English footballer is irresistible and has quite rightly taken his place on the throne of the most valuable young footballers (wonderkids, if you want to use English) at EURO 2021. How about putting his contribution to Borussia Dortmund in terms of numbers? 38 games, 16 goals and 20 assists.
Numbers that take your breath away, considering that he is only 21 years old and his best is yet to come. He should be one of England’s driving forces at the tournament. Quite possibly one of the candidates for a future Ballon d’Or winner. He’s a joy to watch.
