The football season is in its final stages and the transfer merry-go-round is about to start again
League competitions are entering their final phase and football clubs are already looking around the transfer market. From the point of view of the unpleasant financial situation, the most valuable commodity will certainly be players whose contracts are expiring at the clubs and will thus be able to negotiate with new suitors from the end of the season.
We have therefore looked at which players have still not yet extended their contract with their current club and will thus be officially free agents in just a few weeks.
Due to the quality among these players, we decided to put together a potential eleven that would definitely command the respect of football’s big clubs.
The most valuable category on the transfer market may be the free agents
Probably the biggest buzz on the transfer market is the name of Lionel Messi. the 35-year-old living legend is at the end of a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain and after the criticism from his own fans in recent weeks, it doesn’t even look like a contract extension. The most talked about return to Barcelona, we can’t rule out a stint in Saudi Arabia or the United States.
The complicated contract situation has to be solved by the king of Europe, Real Madrid. A total of eight players are out of contract, including Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema and midfield duo Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.
The absolute most valuable free agent at the moment is Milan Škriniar, whose contract is expiring at Inter Milan.
the 28-year-old Slovakian stopper has played six seasons at the San Siro and, with a value of £60 million, is Transfermarkt ‘s most valuable free agent of 2023.
