For Formula 1, racing in the Middle East is simply a lucrative and extremely important business. Especially from a political and financial point of view. Saudi Arabia, for example, has a ten-year contract with F1, and Qatari officials have also signed the same contract with the queen of motorsport.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is to be part of the F1 calendar for the next fourteen years! The new contract will therefore not expire until 2036.
In addition, Formula 1 has recently confirmed a contract extension with Singapore (until 2028) and last year, China also saw a new agreement, where it will race until at least the 2025 season.
In addition, it was announced before last year’s event that Abu Dhabi will act as the final race of the World Championship until 2030.
“We are delighted to be racing at the Bahrain International Circuit until 2036. Bahrain was the first country in the Middle East to welcome Formula 1 and it has a very special place in our sport, ” F1 president Stefano Domenicali told F1.
“I want to personally thank HRH Prince Salman and his team for their dedication and hard work throughout our partnership. I look forward to many years of racing ahead of us,” concluded Domenicali.
The inaugural Bahrain Grand Prix took place back in 2004 and heralded a new era of modern circuits, usually designed by Tilke.
