The Lions have qualified for this year’s Euro, but they can soon look forward to qualifying for the next one, which will be held in Slovakia in 2025
In the summer, our U21s will take part in the European Championships, and shortly after that they will be fighting to play in the next one. The U21 European Championship 2025 will take place in Slovakia!
“The fact that the next European Women’s EURO will be held in Slovakia is a motivation for us. Our U21 team won silver there a few years ago and had great support in the stands.
It’s definitely interesting for us and the fans and we all wish we could play in that championship. And I believe that we will be able to qualify for it,” coach Jan Suchopárek told the national team website.
Today we also got to see the draw of the groups, and we have an interesting qualification cycle ahead of us. The qualification will be really difficult, but definitely not impossible.
From the first basket we got Denmark, which was one of the weaker teams. However, from the third strong Iceland, which was struggling in the barrage and thanks to the excellent Matej Kovář we finally kept the home draw.
The fourth basket sent Wales to our group, then Lithuania to the fifth. As we are in Group I, we have no fifth opponent.
The group is quite challenging to advance, as the group winners and the top three second-placed teams will advance directly. The other six teams will then face an unpredictable barrage.
But the first place is not unrealistic. What are the remaining qualifying groups for the U21 European Championship 2025 in Slovakia?
