Olympique Lyon didn’t enter the first game against Sparta well at all. They were soon 2:0 down at Letná. Nevertheless, the French team managed to win and before the rematch they know that they cannot afford something similar at home. What is the sound from France ahead of the clash with the Prague team?
Lyon managed to beat Sparta 4: 3 at Letná Letná, but the match started horribly. Already in the 19th minute, after two goals by Lukáš Haraslín, they were 2:0 down. Just before half-time, Toko Ekambi managed to at least reduce the deficit and thus started a big turnaround.
The French team jumped into the second half in a completely different mood and setting, showed their quality and scored three more goals, while Sparta scored only one.
“We started the first game really badly. However, we showed a very good mentality. It’s not easy to reverse such a wasted opening and score four goals on the opponents’ ground,” Lyon coach Peter Bosz let slip.
Olympique will definitely not allow a similar situation to happen again, which the coach of the famous club confirmed: “We cannot let the start of the game get away like that again. We have to start well and be 100% from the first minute.”
The goal is to win and get three points. Bosz revealed that he wants to field the strongest possible line-up for the match, so there is no risk of underestimating the team.
At the same time, the Dutch strategist added that the team is still sitting down under his leadership and therefore still making mistakes. He is trying to instil a new style of play in his team and asks for patience. In his opinion, there is no such thing as flawless football.
Lyon will be a big favourite against Sparta. They don’t have much of a chance, which is also helped by the historical record of their games against each other. Olympique has won four out of five matches, only a draw in 2012 in Prague.
