Italy won their fifth match of the European Championship and are now in the semi-finals after beating Belgium. The goals were scored by Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Insigne, with Romelu Lukaku reducing the score to 1:2.
The start of the match was cautious from both sides, in the thirteenth minute the Italians went ahead, but their goal could not stand due to an offside. In the 16th minute, Youri Tielemans shot, but his shot was blocked by one of the defending players.
Six minutes later, Kevin de Bruyne sent a shot from distance, but Gianluigi Donnarumma made an excellent save. In the 30th minute, the Italians scored a regulation goal. Nicolo Barella scored after a pass from Marco Veratti.
In the 41st minute, Federico Chiesa tried his luck but missed the right post by a whisker. Four minutes later, it was 2-0. Lorenzo Insigne drilled the ball in with his right foot and brought the Italians wonderfully close to the semi-final goal.
But a minute later, Jeremy Doku was fouled in the penalty area and Belgium kicked a penalty. Romelu Lukaku took the ball and reduced it to 1: 2. In the second half, it was a long wait for a bigger chance, when Lukaku could have equalised out of nowhere, but he missed the half-empty goal or shot Leandro Spinazzola.
In the 66th minute, Spinazzola could have struck on his own on the other side, but he missed the space between the posts. In the 83rd minute, after a nice individual action, Doku shot but missed by a whisker. The Italians held on to the end of the match and moved on after a 2-1 win.
