There was no winner in the third round of Serie A. Lazio Rome played AC Milan to a 2-2 draw, with both teams leading the match. The final point confirmed the poor start of both teams to the season, AC is still waiting for a win.
- AC have only two points after three rounds
- Lazio, with four points, are not happy either
- The 2: 2 result confirmed the long-standing high number of goals scored in their matches
Milan started the match actively, they had several interesting chances in the first minutes. And in the eighth minute, they turned the pressure into a goal when Strahinja Pavlovic pounced on a centre and opened the scoring.
Taty Castellanos could have responded just two minutes later, but his header was knocked down by the defence for a corner kick. But that was an isolated situation, followed by two chances for the visitors, the bigger of which was missed by Samuel Chukwueze.
After that, the pace of the game calmed down and Christian Pulisic had another interesting chance in the 40th minute, but he only hit the wall. That was the only real action of the final quarter of an hour, and AC Milan went into the box with a 1:0 lead.
Lazio were active after the change of sides, but did not take any shooting chances. On the other hand, Filippo Terracciano could have increased the visitors’ lead in the 60th minute, but one of the defending players knocked his attempt away for a corner kick.
Two minutes later, the home fans celebrated as Castellanos hit the crossbar to equalise. And in the 67th minute, the score was turned, with Boulaye Dia scoring after defender Nuno Tavares’ second assist of the match.
The goal scoring second half continued, with substitute striker Tammy Abraham quickly equalizing at 2-2. By the end both teams were playing rather cautiously, the draw was clearly not a bad one for either team.
