Ladislav Krejci has been a mainstay of Sparta Prague for a long time, but this is the first time he has been called up to the senior team, his health prevented his earlier nomination.

The invitation came at the perfect time, when I was at home with my family and friends. I celebrated it with them, so it was even stronger for me,” he said in an interview with Repre Football.

He will also be reunited with three of his club colleagues in the national team, Adam Hložek, Jakub Pešek and Milan Heča, who replaced the injured Jiří Pavlenka.

If he plays, he will surely be able to rank the match among the most important in his career. The Czechs will challenge Sweden on Thursday and if they advance, they are one game away from the World Championships.

“The motivation is huge. For me, overall, it was a motivation to make the team and the fact that it’s an extra tournament like this, it’s even more motivation. It’s specific in that it’s only one game to decide. Everybody is aware of the importance of that match,” he added.
