The invisible Erling Haaland? Goalless, he’s like a fourth division player, Manchester United legend lashes out at sharpshooter
The Premier League on Sunday offered a showdown between Manchester City and Arsenal, the teams vying for the title. The duel ended in a goalless draw and didn’t offer much beauty. Erling Haaland came under criticism and the legendary Roy Keane clearly explained why the Norwegian cannonballer couldn’t win the Ballon d’Or last year.

Liverpool emerged victorious from the Citizens-Gunners clash
Three teams are currently battling it out for the Premier League title. As recently as Saturday, the top spot belonged to Arsenal, who were only a score better than second-placed Liverpool. Manchester City was in third place with a point loss to both teams.
While Liverpool took on Brighton on Sunday afternoon and won 2-1, fans of the top English competition were looking for a showdown between the Citizens and the Gunners. Pep Guardiola’s charges were perceived as favourites, but they did not confirm this role.
In fact, Arsenal resigned to keep possession of the ball and to try to play an open game with their rivals. His players did not even hold the ball for 30% of the game. Thanks to this, however, Mikel Arteta can celebrate the gain of one point and therefore only two points behind the first Liverpool.
Manchester City are three points behind. So the winner of the whole Sunday programme is clear. However, there are still nine rounds left in the league and there are still plenty of points in play.
Erling Haaland under fire from critics. A player for the fourth league?
Last season he scored goal after goal, breaking records and building on his goalscoring successes at Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Salzburg. Many fans saw him as the clear winner of the Ballon d’Or, however many experts were against him.
Erling Haaland certainly deserved the award for top scorer, but the fact is that apart from his goals, he cannot match the great Lionel Messi in terms of quality, which is what some experts and quite a few football fans pointed out.
This season Nora is not doing so well as a goal scorer. He has 18 goals in the league and 29 in 35 games across all competitions this season. That’s not bad at all, but the problem is that if Haaland isn’t scoring goals, he doesn’t have that much to offer his team.
Now Roy Keane, a legend of Irish football and Manchester United, has come down hard on him for that reason as well. “The level of his overall play is terribly poor. Not just in this game. His finishing or headers in front of goal, he’s the best in the world at that, but his overall game is really poor,” he opined in the Sky Sports studio.
“He needs to improve. He’s almost like a League Two (fourth English league – ed.) player when I look at him. Heneeds to work hard on himself for the next few years,” Keane added.
