Fans of combat sports can look forward to a spectacular return. Probably towards the end of the year, Conor McGregor will face Michael Chandler in the cage. The star Irishman has also hinted at his plans for the fight.
Reality show The Ultimate Fighter offered a very interesting lineup for this year, especially in the position of coaches. These are namely Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler, who will probably face each other in the cage at the end of the year.
The Irishman will return to action after a long time. He last fought in July 2021 when he broke his leg in the third fight with Dustin Poirier. Since then he has been getting his health back together and was also waiting to rejoin the USADA anti-doping program.
That has already happened and now all that is left to do is wait for an official announcement from the UFC. And from what the Irishman says, we have a lot to look forward to.
“It won’t be a mere return. It‘s going to be the biggest comeback ever in the history of combat sports,” McGregor expressed in an interview with Megan Olivi for the UFC’s official channel.
And why does the Irishman think that? Mainly because of the way he thinks the fight will go down. Because he would like to finish Chandler in style: “I’m going to kick him in the head. He’s tailor-made to get kicked everywhere.”
McGregor is hugely motivated and looking forward to the fight. Indeed, this is well documented in a recently released documentary miniseries on Netflix called McGregor Forever, which charts the final years of the Irishman’s career and also offers a glimpse into his private life.
The biggest star in combat sports history last rejoiced in victory in January 2020, when Donald Cerrone failed to challenge him.
