Legendary Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher has been the victim of a great betrayal. According to the Daily Star, a family friend photographed him after his serious accident and demanded $1 million, or CZK 21.6 million, from the media for the photo.

Michael Schumacher suffered a serious head injury in 2013 while skiing in the Alps. After that, he ended up in a coma and for a long time it was unknown how the legendary racer was really doing.

His family carefully protected his current state of health from the public and did not disclose any information to the press. In the summer of 2014, Schumacher was allowed to return to his home in Switzerland.

Only family members and a very small circle of close friends were still allowed to see Schumacher. However, it has now come to light that one of them set him up.

A family friend had secretly photographed him in a motionless state and offered the photo to the media at the end of 2016. He wanted a million dollars for it, or 21.6 million crowns. This information was then confirmed by the German prosecutor’s office.

A documentary about Schumacher was released last week on Netflix, which focuses largely on the driver’s driving career and shows that Schumacher rightly ranks among some of the best drivers in Formula One history.
