Formula 1 has a record 23 races on the schedule this season, with the fourth event of 2022 being the Formula 1 Rolex Gran Premio Del Made In Italy E Dell’Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. So what is the schedule and where can you follow the entire race weekend?
The first grand prix was held at the Imola circuit back in 1980, but then under the name of the San Marino Grand Prix.
The first time Imola hosted an F1 race was back in 1963, but back then the results of the race were not counted in the championship standings. It was not until 1980 that the FIA gave Imola the green light to host an official World Championship race.
The San Marino Grand Prix was held at the famous Imola circuit until 2006, and by then had staged a total of 27 races. It will return to the Formula 1 calendar in 2020, specifically as the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari
The length of the circuit currently measures 4,909 kilometres, with Sunday’s race scheduled for sixty-three laps, during which the drivers will cover a total of 309 kilometres. The fastest lap of the Imola race is held by Lewis Hamilton, who set a time of 1:15.484 in the 2020 season.
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, as the official name of the circuit goes, offers one DRS zone for easier overtaking. The detection point can be found on the straight between turns 15 and 16.
But apart from the detection points, you can also see the average speeds that the drivers reach in each corner, as well as what gear they usually shift into in that corner.
Emilia Romagna Grand Prix – programme
The Formula 1 cars will take to the track for the first time on Friday 22 April, specifically in the afternoon, and of course in the first practice session (officially called Free Practice 1 – ed. note). This will last the standard one hour – from thirteen to fourteen hours.
After that, however, qualifying will start at 17:00, due to the new format of the race weekend, which made its debut last year.
FP2 will start at 12:30pm on Saturday 23 April, but four hours later it will be the turn of the sprint, which we have already written a detailed article about.
F1 has scheduled the main race for Sunday in classic fashion, with all five lights going out at 15::00.
Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna – stream
Live coverage of the Formula 1 races can be watched on TV stations Sport 1 and Sport 2. There will also be internet streams and, last but not least, F1 TV, where you can switch the onboard cameras of the individual drivers.
But F1 TV in particular also offers other features, namely livetiming and detailed telemetry. In addition to the full F1 programme, you can also watch press conferences or practice and qualifying sessions in Formula 2 or Formula 3.
Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna – odds
Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari team are clearly dominating the ongoing race. Will the Italian team continue its dominance or will Max Verstappen and Red Bull win this time?
