Isco has scored many beautiful goals in his career, but the last one belongs to the category of funny and accidental. In the Copa del Rey against Alcoyano, the fans saw a situation like a FIFA video game.
Real Madrid faced Alcoyano in the first round of the Spanish Cup. At first sight an easy opponent, but not after the experience of last year, when Los Blancos were eliminated on the same pitch.
The similarity was further heightened when Eder Militao opened the scoring in the 40th minute, just like last year. Alcoyano put in an absolutely incredibly combative and disciplined performance, at times even better than Real Madrid and with more chances.
The home side were further helped by the almost frenetic atmosphere that prevailed in the packed 5,000-seater El Collao stadium.
When Dani Vega equalised at 1-1 in the second half and Real Madrid continued to put in a poor performance, many White Ballet fans had already seen the scenario from last year. However, that’s where all the similarities ended as Carlo Ancelotti sent on the team’s third top scorer, Marco Asensio.
The latter shot from outside the box in the 76th minute and with a defender’s run, he got the ball past goalkeeper Jose Juan. But the bad luck didn’t end there for Alcoyano, as what came next is something you just don’t see.
In the 78th minute, Isco came onto the pitch and scored just 12 seconds later. Albeit with incredible luck.
Marcelo wanted to send the ball into the box to Isco, but the Alcoyana stopper intercepted the pass. He was about to kick the ball away, only to hit a teammate and the ball bounced back into the box to Isco. The latter tried to push the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper José Juan, who brought him down, but at the same time his heel clipped the ball into the net.
