The former UFC champion stood in the gate against NHL players, tried his hand at shooting, then taught them how to fight. Check out this fun video
In the early hours of Sunday morning, combat sports fans can look forward to the highly anticipated UFC 270 tournament in Anaheim. And it was with the stars of the local NHL unit that former UFC champion and current commentator Daniel Cormier met. See how he did in the gate and how he taught the hockey players to fight.
Fans of combat sports are looking forward to Sunday’s UFC 270 tournament. It will feature two title fights. The heavyweight title will be contested by Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane, while the flyweight title will be contested for the third time by Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo.
As usual, the tournament will be hosted by commentator Daniel Cormier, a former UFC champion.
It was Cormier who took the opportunity of the tournament being held in Anaheim to meet the stars of the local NHL team. He wore skates on his feet and instead of MMA gloves he wore a trap and a knuckle pad.
His goaltending skills were put to the test by Ducks goalie John Gibson, center Sam Carrick and winger Max Comtois.
Cormier entertained the crowd as soon as he stepped on the ice. He struggled to keep his balance at all. And that was evident in his saves.
But Cormier didn’t stop at just catching. He also tried his hand at shooting. He hit the ice on his first attempt. And it wouldn’t be the last time.
“I don’t know how to play hockey, I don’t know how to skate, but I know how to fight,” Cormier said in a video before he tried his hand at fighting with the players on the ice, where he gave them some advice.
