The former Ferrari or McLaren manager took a swipe at Lewis Hamilton! He’s a crybaby, he’s not like he used to be, says Villadelprat

Lewis Hamilton is said to be not the driver he used to be. Indeed, former F1 team manager Joan Villadelprat has lashed out at the seven-time champion, saying he is tearful and like a little child. What specifically did he say about Hamilton?

Seven world titles, he won his first in the 2008 season, specifically while still in McLaren colours. Hamilton is undoubtedly one of F1’s greatest legends, but he last celebrated a title in 2020.

In 2021, he was robbed of it by Max Verstappen. As the queen of motorsport enters a new era, not only the British champion, but the entire Mercedes team is not doing as well as all the leaders of the German stable would like.

Hamilton ended last season with 240 points, whereupon he was surpassed by teammate George Russell.

In addition, the 38-year-old has not won a single victory in a single season for the first time in his career. He did, however, stand on the podium nine times.

This year, things are looking a little better for Hamilton, although his current fourth place in the drivers’ championship and 31 points behind leader Verstappen can be quantified as a continued crushing retreat from glory.

Understandably, these disappointing results for Hamilton had to be reflected somewhere. The Mercedes driver has been frustrated with the performance of last year’s W13 monoposto in particular on several occasions, and he hasn’t been thrilled with this year’s either.

He’s a whiner, he’s not like he used to be

But according to former McLaren or Ferrari manager Joan Villadelprat, Hamilton is no longer the driver he once was.

“Hamilton is fed up, and when he doesn’t win, he’s like a spoilt little boy. You either win or you break your toys,” Villadelprat said in an interview with Spain’s El Confidencial.

“He’s a whiny little guy. When you have a teammate who is faster than you, it’s normal to keep quiet and stick your head under the wing,” he continued.

“What motivates him after winning seven titles? Well, to win another one. But you don’t risk your skin if you don’t have the car to do it. You can see that Hamilton is not the same as when he won his first or second title,” concluded Villadelprat.
