The Colombian racer, who became the first and so far only female driver in Formula 2, is returning to the series in 2019. She will replace Cem Bölükbaşı in the Czech Charouz Racing System stable for the rest of the season.
The twenty-nine-year-old racer has accumulated a lot of experience in various monoposto competitions during her career. She has participated in several regional Formula 3 series and raced in the GP3 Series between 2016-2018. She was also a test driver for Alfa Romeo Racing in F1 from 2018 until the end of last season.
After a 2018 season in which she scored 11 points in GP3 she moved to the Arden International stable in F2. Here her teammate was French talent Anthoine Hubert, who tragically passed away during the season.
Calderón did not score a single point all year. She placed a best of thirteenth and was twenty-second in the overall championship standings.
This year, the Colombian raced in the American IndyCar series. She scored 58 points from seven races, good enough for 29th place.
“We are happy to have Tatiana on the team. We have been following her career for a long time, she is very competitive and her experience will be very valuable for the team ,” commented Antonín Charouz on the arrival of Calderón.
“This weekend will be important for us. There are four rounds left and we have three tough races in a row. Itwill take all our efforts to finish the season successfully in Abu Dhabi.” added Charouz for Formula 2.
