The first team in the Premier League has proceeded to sack the coach! Paul Heckingbottom says goodbye. At this time last season, five coaches were out of a job
Sheffield United’s very poor results were not stopped by Paul Heckingbottom. He has been replaced on the bench by Chris Wilder, who returns to the club after two years. This makes him the first coach in the Premier League to be sacked. In the last season, even 5 coaches were out of a job after 14 rounds played.

The weakest team in the Premier League
Sheffield is on paper the second weakest team in the current Premier League season after Luton. In the table, however, the weakest ever, having won only one single game so far, and that was at home against Wolves. However, Oliver Norwood secured the win for the team in the 10th minute of the setup from a penalty. I’m sure you can imagine the outpouring of joy from the 30,000 fans at Bramall Lane.
Otherwise, it’s a misery and Sheffield are practically the worst team in the league in every statistic. In 14 games they have scored only 11 goals, while conceding 39. The biggest debacle was inflicted by Newcastle at their own stadium (0:8).
This was logically not stopped by Paul Heckingbottom, who is accompanied by Stuart McCall and Mark Hudson. The defeat to Burnley (5: 0) was too much for the management.
“First of all, on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Paul for all his efforts at Sheffield United, firstly as U23 manager before taking charge of the first team. His professionalism and dedication have been a credit to the club and I am sure everyone has enjoyed the winning promotion campaign.
However, after dropping to the bottom of the table and a string of disappointing results and performances, we feel a change is needed to give the club a boost and a chance of staying in the Premier League beyond this season,” said the club’s Chief Executive Stephen Bettis.
A big change from last season, however, with five coaches out of work at this time. That certainly doesn’t please Heckingbottom, but it’s certainly a nice change for the rest of us. However, we may not have to wait long at all for the next name when there are several candidates for the sack.

Saving Wilder
Wilder is a very familiar name at Sheffield, after all he managed them for almost 5 years during which he coached 227 games. He has already experienced promotion to the Premier League with United, but left after one season after gaining 23 points, which meant last place.
With a very interesting statistic came Sky Sports, which according to past data gives Wilder a 0% chance of staying in the Premier League. If the Sheffield management had made a change back in October, the chances would have been 66.7%.
At least, that’s what the data shows when the club, who were in last place, sacked their coach.
