The first day of the FA Cup semi-final brought three advances of the favourites and also one surprise. Solomon, Fulham’s newly discovered star, scored again!

The English FA Cup not only means the oldest club football competition in the world and therefore a huge tradition and honour, but also many surprises and crashes for the favourites. For example, Grimsby from the Fourth Division made it to the top 16 this year, beating Luton with ease. Leicester failed to make the eight-finals.

The two matches were played from 20:15. The first one was hosted by Stoke, who welcomed Brighton to their home stadium. Both line-ups bore some significant changes from the league. The visiting team coped better with the conditions and can celebrate their promotion. The only goal of the game was scored by young Evan Ferguson.

The second match pitted the Foxes and the Roses against each other. Leicester welcomed Blackburn to the King Power Stadium. The visitors took the lead in the first half through Dolan.

After the change of sides Szmodics came through and Rodgers’ charges couldn’t erase the two-goal deficit. Iheanacho reduced the score to 1:2.

Leicester thus ends as a relatively clear favourite. It’s a seesaw in the Premier League. The last two losses came against strong Arsenal and United, but the fact remains that the relegation gap is only three points and a third loss in a row is nothing to help you into the rescue fight.

The next two games were kick off half an hour later. The first one was played at Craven Cottage in London, Fulham’s home stadium. It was also hosted by Leeds United. As is often the case in recent matches, Leeds were not the worse team on the pitch, but they still came away with a defeat.

The difference was mainly in efficiency. In the 21st minute, Palhinha opened the scoring. In the second half, after a pass from Mitrovic, Solomon scored his next goal, and has now scored in four competitive matches in a row! He made this great typical wrap-around shot to the back post. Fulham beat Leeds 2-0.

The last match on 28 February was a clash between Bristol City and Manchester City. The home side stayed within striking distance for a long time, but the Citizens did not allow the sensation. In the seventh minute, Foden made the stadium sad. He added another goal in the 74th minute and a recovered De Bruyne made the final 3-0.
