The Women’s Tennis Tournament of Champions in Fort Worth, Texas is underway. The last round of the group matches is left to be played, and the weekend program will offer the culmination of the event. The doubles players Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova will not be missing in the semi-finals.
Play offs were secured by the singles as well as the doubles leaders. Poland’s Iga Świąteková has not lost a set in her two matches so far, and so she will go into the match with home player Cori Gauff, who, on the other hand, has no chance to reach one of the two qualification spots, from the first place.
Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia and Russia’s Daria Kasatkina will meet in a direct clash to advance to the next stage. Before that group, however, Tracy Austin will offer her final matches to those named after Nancy Richey.
In this group, the US tennis player is also not doing well, as Jessica Pegula is at the bottom of the table with two losses. The Buffalo native will take on Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka, currently the second-ranked player, on Friday at 21:30 CET. Then the tennis players ranked first and third, Greece’s Maria Sakkari and Tunisia’s Ons Dzabour, will face each other.
Krejcikova and Siniakova, the defending champions, will play in Casie Casals’ group. They will face Gauff and Pegula, who are last in the doubles, on Friday night. The clash between the one-point pairs, who also have the same ratio of sets won and lost, will be between the pairs of Xu Yifan, Yang Zhaoxuan and Desirae Krawczyk, Demi Schuurs.
Pam Shriver’s group also has the last two matches left unplayed on the schedule. The doubles part of the Tournament of Champions will offer matches between Lyudmila Kichenok, Jelena Ostapenko – Anna Danilina, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Gabriela Dabrowska, Giuliana Olmos – Veronika Kudermetova, Elise Mertens before the semifinal stage.
In the case of a tie in points, which is the winning matches, the mutual balance is decisive. Live broadcasts of the matches of one of the highlights of this year’s tennis calendar will be broadcast by O2 TV Tennis.
