Friday’s draw for the Europa League semi-final attracted fans with attractive duels. Leverkusen with the Czech duo Hložek – Schick will face Ferencváros, Arsenal will have an expected battle with Sporting Lisbon and Manchester United will face another Spanish opponent after getting past Barcelona.

Thursday’s rematches in the preliminary round brought a lot of drama. First of all, the duel between Monaco and Leverkusen stood out above all the duels, which advanced after a successful penalty shootout thanks to the help of Adam Hložek and Patrik Schick.

The evening’s showpiece was then Manchester United’s match with Barcelona, in which the home side successfully turned the score around.

Friday’s draw saw the remaining 16 teams split into seeded and unseeded teams. The eight seeded teams were the winners of their respective groups, while the other half was made up of the teams that advanced from the preliminary round.

The most interesting draw for Czech fans was that of Bundesliga side Leverkusen. The team with the Czech pair will face the Hungarian champion, Ferencváros Budapest.

The English big clubs Arsenal and Manchester United could theoretically meet each other in the eighth round, but we will have to wait for this duel.

The London team will face the unpleasant Sporting Lisbon, the Red Devils have been assigned an opponent in the form of Betis Sevilla. On paper, these two encounters should provide the best quality spectacle.

Feyenoord – Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla – Fenerbahce, AS Rome – Real Sociedad, Juventus – Freiburg and Union Berlin – Union SG.

All eight-final matches are scheduled for 9 March, with the rematches a week later.
