The transfer of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid could be summed up in one word:: Disaster. The engagement in the Spanish capital did not suit him at all and he played as many games in the league in three seasons as he did in his last year at Chelsea, 37.

Hazard left Chelsea as the king of the Premier League. 37 league games, 16 goals and 15 assists. In the Europa League, a record of 2+2 and winning this trophy. So Real Madrid didn’t hesitate to pay over 100 million euros for him.

But that investment has certainly not paid off. Hazard is still plagued by injuries, he hasn’t played more than seven games in a row, let alone in the starting line-up, and this is his third season in Madrid. He is also often criticized for his lifestyle, as he has arrived for training several times with a lot of excess weight. Even in training, his attitude is said to be less than ideal.

And all this is reflected in Hazard’s (in)performance. In his first season for Los Blancos he scored 1 goal and assisted 3, last year he scored 3 times and assisted twice. So far this year, he’s notched one assist in seven duels. In 12 Champions League starts, he scored one goal from a penalty against Inter and added one assist.

No wonder the Real Madrid management is running out of patience with the Belgian. Especially when his position has been filled by Vinícius, who has scored five goals in eight games, assisted two and has a great understanding with Karim Benzema. And then there’s the star Kylian Mbappé.

So there will probably be no place left for Hazard and the White Ballet will want to get at least part of the price back for the 30-year-old. According to El Nacional newspaper, Roman Abramovich wishes to bring Hazard back to Chelsea, where he has been most successful.

The newspaper further claims that Chelsea are already in informal negotiations to bring Hazard back to Stamford Bridge. The Belgian footballer was in the Blues jersey from 2012-2019 and became one of the best footballers in the world. However, he did not build on his performances at Real Madrid, could he make a comeback at Chelsea?
