The dream of the UFC is shattered! Watch how Matej Peñaz was strangled after just 47 seconds of his lifetime fight
One of the biggest hopes of Czech MMA failed to make it to the top league of the world. In the fight for the UFC contract Matěj Peňáz fell in the first minute.

Matěj Peňáz fought for the UFC contract of his life last night
Matej Peňáz is one of the hottest prospects in domestic MMA. Although he only got into MMA two years ago, tonight he got the opportunity to fight for a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender series.
26 fights in kickboxing, over 60 amateur fights in stand-up. A rich career for a 25 year old fighter from Novo mesto na Moravě, don’t you think? But MMA is a cruel sport.
There’s no hurry, predicted Oktagon promoter Novotný
He destroyed one opponent after another in the Oktagon, taking five knockouts and one victory on points from six fights. Training at the Allstar Training Center in Sweden alongside the star Khamzat Chimaev should prepare him for the transition to the “MMA Champions League”.
When he announced his move overseas in April, Oktagon promoter Ondrej Novotny held back the high expectations of his fans and perhaps even the fighter himself. “As a fan and a friend, I think it’s time that the UFC could have waited, there’s no rush,” Novotny said at the time of the rising star.
The dream vanished in 47 seconds
Truth or just bad luck? Maybe a little of each. However, tonight Peñaz didn’t get the fight of his life. In just 47 seconds, the dream of a contract in the world’s top league vanished into thin air.
American Sedriques Dumas, who was 6-0 in MMA just like the Czech fighter, was the one the controversial Dana White chose to join his organization. In the first minute, he actually put a guillotine on Peñaz, from which the Czech hopeful never recovered.
We can only speculate what will happen to Peňáz’s career now. However, Matej is still only 25 years old, which in an MMA fighter’s career means that he is still at the beginning of his journey, and nowhere is it written that he can’t one day see the UFC again.
We certainly wish him the best of luck in his next wrestling journey. In just a week’s time, another pearl of Czech MMA in Tereza Bleda will be fighting for her chance to prove herself to Dana White. Let’s hope the former Queen of the Octagon does better.
