Karolína Muchová fought to reach the Australian Open final on Thursday morning, her opponent was American Jennifer Brady. The latter was also a slight favourite in the match, which was confirmed by the results.

Karolína Muchová defeated the world number six Karolina Pliskova, she beat the WTA number six Mertens and even managed to knock out the world number one Ashleigh Barty. However, she couldn’t come up against American Jennifer Brady.

The match with Brady started quite traditionally for Muchova. Again she had a slower start, even losing the first set 4::6, but in the second she won 6::3 and it looked like another phenomenal turnaround was on the way.

But the opposite was true. At the beginning of the third set, Much lost her serve and it was this break that propelled the American to the final, winning the third set 6:4.

However, it should be mentioned that Karolina Muchova fought until the very end. She fended off four match points and had three break points in the last set, but she was unable to take advantage of any of them.

So the dream of the final disappeared. Nevertheless, Karolína Muchová played great tennis, made a big name for herself and proved that she is definitely a force to be reckoned with in the future! Moreover, her great run at the Australian Open will surely have an impact on the Moravian-born player’s rise in the rankings.
