In recent weeks, there has been talk of Vladimir Coufal alleged dissatisfaction with West Ham activating an option to extend his contract on the same terms. However, the Czech international is not supposed to be happy with those terms, as only four players at the club have a lower salary.
Vladimir Coufal joined West Ham in the summer of 2020, joining Tomas Soucek. The right-back acclimatised to the new conditions almost immediately and settled into the starting line-up of experienced coach David Moyes.
From a personal point of view, his debut season in England was his most successful. In the Premier League, he started 34 games and scored seven goals.
During the following seasons, his playing minutes decreased, but the main reason was health complications. In the previous season, the Czech national player contributed to the triumph in the European Conference League.
In the current season, the former Slovan Liberec and Slavia Prague player has played nineteen Premier League games, during which he recorded five assists. He is therefore one of the most productive defenders.
That is why the club’s management decided to exercise the option and extended the contract with Vladimir Coufal until the summer of the calendar year 2025. However, the thirty-one-year-old footballer should be dissatisfied with this, as the terms of the contract are to be identical as before.
Coufal is the Hammers’ fifth lowest paid player
According to Spotrac, Coufal is the Hammers’ fifth lowest paid player. His weekly salary is expected to be £35,000, which translates to roughly one million crowns. Only Ben Johnson, Conor Coventry is already supposed to have a lower salary. Joseph Anang and Divin Mubama.
On the other hand, the highest paid player of the London team is Lucas Paquetá, whose salary should be 150 thousand pounds per week. Tomas Soucek’s weekly salary is £65 thousand.
It will be interesting to see if Vladimir Coufal changes employers during the winter transfer window. According to the reputable Transfermarkt website, his market value is around nine million euros.
